IB2 Endcap
Muon Chamber Meeting
Below are the minutes for the Endcap
Muon Chamber Meeting. If
you find errors or
wish to correct them, please contact
me at apollina@fnal.gov.
Chamber Drawing Status
Vladislav presented the status of the Me234/4 chamber
drawings. He explained some of the details that he has been working on.
Mostly he corrected small mistakes, and concentrated on decreasing the
number of different parts through simplification of the design. For example,
we will have only 7 types of different gap bars, instead of the 9 used
in P1.
There is a total of 83 drawings for these chambers.
85% of them are complete. Vladislav is working on the remaining 15%, which
comprises two brand-new assembly drawings. All the drawings are backup
on the server.
The end of August still seems like a reasonable
date for the completion of this job and Pete will get the package from
Vladislav to start assigning Fermilab Part Numbers.
By mid October Vladislav will receive the drawings
for the PNPI chambers (ME2/1,ME3/1,ME4/1) and he will start working on
them, with the goal of finalizing them in 1-2 months (end of December).
Winding Machine
John Korienek didn't come to the meeting to report
on the status of the winding machine. The responsibility for the commissioning
and setup of the winding machine has been assigned to Jon Bloumquist and
Jon is supposed to meet with Oleg on Wednesday to finalize the modifications
(if any) to make on the machine.
-
Action Item: Oleg
will meet with Jon Bloumquist and his group to finalize the modifications
to make on the winding machine. Oleg will send out a list of the items
to be modified before the winding machine can be moved to MP9 to make sure
the the resources available in the time needed are adequate.
MP9 Move-in Plan
It was agreed that the following
equipment could move to MP9 starting on Monday 8/24/98. We should try to
stick to the following schedule to keep the tools under control and have
the available and appropriate experts on site:
Monday
-
Anode Bar Gluing Hardware (presently in Lab6)
-
Chamber Assembly Table (presently in Lab 7 Clean
Room)
-
Anode Bar double sided Tape Hardware
-
Cleaning Setup (presently in Lab 6)
-
Action Item: Glenn
Smith and a technician from MP9 will start moving these pieces of
equipment on Monday 8/24/98. They will meet at 9:00 in Lab 7 with
Oleg and proceed.
Tuesday
-
Soldering Machine (presently in Lab 7 Clean Room)
-
Action Item: Oleg
or Glenn will contact Bud Koecher (X3403) on Monday to insure that the
welding lamp and the delicate equipment is properly removed from
the welding machine before transferring it to MP9. Glenn and a technician
from MP9 will relocate the equipment.
Wednesday
-
Gluing Dispensing Table (presently in Lab 6)
-
Action Item: Oleg
or Glenn will contact Bud Koecher (X3403) on Monday to insure that the
welding lamp and all the delicate components are properly removed
from the welding machine before transferring it to MP9. Glenn and a technician
from MP9 will relocate the equipment.
Thursday
-
Old and New Tension Measuring Devices (presently
in Lab 7)
-
Ionized Air Cleaner (presently in Lab 6)
-
Action Item: Oleg
will contact the Purdue expert to make sure they arrive are here by Thursday
. Glenn and a technician from MP9 will relocate the equipment.
The winding machine will be moved as soon as
it is operational.
Lab 8 activities
Panels Lifting and Handling
Phyllis
discussed the existence of 2 vendors to provide the lifting fixtures to
move the panels from the boxes to the Axxion and Gerber machine. One of
them (Great Lakes) will be here on september 3rd for a demonstration. The
other vendor is Unimove, and Phyllis will try to setup a get-together time.
The goal is to make a decision by the end of September.
-
Action Item: Yuri
and Phyllis will continue
working on defining our needs to the vendors and and assessing their capabilities.
The goal is to make a decision with a Request for Quotes by the end of
September.
Panels Grooving
Yuri presented
some cross-section pictures he has been taking of the FR4 material (for
the moment he used some D0 FR4, which is approximately 0.5mm thick). He
noticed that the glass fibers are exposed even for a very shallow cut of
the copper. He actually noticed that, given the FR4 structure, there is
no "buffering zone" between the copper and the FR4. He suggested
that even making a 10 mils deep cut (instead of the 4 or 6 mils presently
used) would not expose more fiber than what is already done, with the advantage
of avoiding any "skip" during operation on the Gerber machine. The only
objection from Oleg was that the mechanical structure of the panel would
be weakened.
-
Action Item: Yuri
and Jay Hoffman will groove diffrent test pieces at different depths and
measure the mechanical properties of the panels. .
Panels Cleaning Needs - Wires situation (D0 experience)
We decided to call up
specific meeting for the Panel Cleaning situation and the Wires D0 experience.
These meetings will be setup in the future.
Cosmic Test Setup
The Fermilab drawings for
the Cosmic Ray setup have been completed. Probably they will be sent
to Wisconsin for the safety review. Procurement will start afterward.
Production Cart
The drawings for the production
cart are ready. Procurement can start.
Action Item: Greg
Koblinska can get the drawings from Evgeni Borissov and start
the procurement procedure.
